WHAT NEST IS TO US

Nest is a very special place to our family. It is where we fell in love with the property and bought home our babies. The name serves 2 meanings in that it was first my little nest during that special time with young children, and now my intention is for Nest to be a place where we can offer somewhere special for people to connect, reflect or create.

When we purchased the cottage it was ROUGH yet still charming. We quickly decided to rebuild it while I was pregnant with Juno, and I used my trade skills as a Building Designer to create a space which was small, yet cosy and functional. Paul used his skills for the rebuild, repurposing as many of the original materials as possible, and retaining the original charm.

Our dream has always been to establish beautiful organic gardens and have animals, chickens and wildlife to share the space with us. This is always a work in progress!

Fishing nets and white buoys hung on a tree trunk outdoors.

WHAT NEST OFFERS NOW

We wanted to create a space with authentic bones and beautiful finishes. Our intention is to honour the beautiful land on which Nest sits, full of stories and history, and let this shine through in the rustic finish and furnishings.

During 2025 we have been renovating and refitting Nest. Wherever possible we are using bespoke homewares, repurposed materials and local trades to give weight to it’s integrity. We have chosen beautiful, comfortable finishes which can enhance a guest stay in a meaningful way. Our hope being to invite people to rest, reflect and enjoy a slow pace during their visit. Going forward we hope to create a beautiful venue space adjacent to Nest, to be better able to offer Retreats, workshops and small events year round.
